Hotel Vitale Launches Full Moon Yoga Series
Hotel Vitale Launches 2010 Full Moon Yoga Series
Yoga Classes Inspired by Lunar Phases Begin January 30 in Hotel Vitale's Terrace Studios Overlooking San Francisco Bay
SAN FRANCISCO (January 18, 2010) – In honor of the natural cycle of the moon, Hotel Vitale is introducing a Full Moon Yoga series open to overnight guests and locals alike. As an extension of its "luxury, naturally" theme, a yoga instructor from the hotel's penthouse-level Spa Vitale will provide the lunar-themed classes in one of the newly designed Terrace Studios. Yogis and yoginis will practice the ancient discipline – known for its mental and physical benefits – while enjoying fully-illuminated views of The Embarcadero and San Francisco Bay.
"Hotel Vitale's Full Moon Yoga series is a first and it will provide another layer of relaxation and rejuvenation to those who visit the hotel and spa," said Melony Williams, Hotel Vitale's general manager. "The monthly yoga classes are timed around a natural phenomenon, so our intent is that each class participant connects to that natural cycle on some level and experiences the sense of balance and well being that yoga often induces."
Clary Sage Organics, a San Francisco based company with a line of yoga attire that is designed and produced locally from organic and ecologically sustainable materials, will outfit the Spa Vitale yoga instructor for each Full Moon class. In addition, class attendees will receive Clary Sage discount cards that can be used for online or in-store purchases.
Hotel Vitale's Full Moon Yoga series will begin on Saturday, January 30, the night of the first full moon of 2010. Classes will be offered from 6-7 p.m. and the cost is $10 for non-hotel guests, and complimentary for in-house guests. The year's remaining classes are scheduled for the full moon evenings of February 28, March 30, April 28, May 27, June 26, July 26, August 24, September 23, October 23, November 21, and December 21.
Hotel Vitale's Americano Restaurant, under the direction of Chef Kory Stewart, will complement the Full Moon Yoga series with a special yoga-inspired menu offering. Class participants can enjoy a Mediterranean-style vegetable plate with grilled flat bread, hummus, olives, roasted almonds and seasonal market crudite in the Americano Lounge following their yoga practice. Paired with a revitalizing non-alcoholic elixir and a scoop of anti-oxidant rich granita, the platter will be available to all Americano guests after 5:30 p.m. exclusively on the dates of the full moon for a cost of $18 per person.
A full moon is a lunar phase that occurs when the moon is on the opposite side of the earth from the sun. At this time, the hemisphere of the moon that is facing the earth is almost fully illuminated by the sun and appears round. The opposite hemisphere of the moon is completely dark. The time between similar lunar phases is approximately 29.53 days.
